Telenovelas have been a popular craze. There are times I like to watch them especially if the plot is about love-- gained, lost and regained in the end. ? (Sometimes I feel like one hopeless romantic!). Come to think of it, each one of us have our own personal “novellas”. We can be master storytellers given opportunity to write our life’s untold scripts.
Most of the time, I am in Paaralang Pantao, with the children, with the teachers, with Tita Letty and some new acquaintances. Amazingly, I am a part of their lives now. Yes, you are too! Who would have thought this could be? Yes! Life is such a big mystery!
Allow me to share some significant scenes of this week in Paaralang Pantao...
Sometimes, I just sit listening as the teachers teach. Sometimes I observe them, talked to them, struggle with them. Sometimes I teach the children to sing, to dance, to pray. Sometimes, I look out the window and see many other children playing in the sun or in the rain. Sometimes I just sit down and smile with them. Sometimes I listen to Tita Letty’s sharings, the roots of her beloved children community!
As you read this you may be there sitting inside your cool flats. Or maybe you are spending some moment in the cozy libraries in Singapore town. Maybe you are in school, pondering a difficult assignment, or faced with the paper works and agenda on the office desk. Yet, with the memories of the mission and of sharing life, distance and time is no barrier. Maybe, your heart is skipping a little bit remembering a scene, a grin, a play, a song, a marvelous view!
Beyond all these gestures is the connection, the working of a relationship, of a true to life story of persons, young and old meeting each day. More than a telenovela, these encounters have no replays, and the films will never be rotten away.
Thank you, Dear God, for the gift of life, of persons, of events, of companions in the journey. Thank you for the many encounters of your goodness, of your faithful love each day. Thank you for the awareness of your call and for leading us closer to You, through the children and our community. Amen. |
